Saturday, Deck-mu eh 6. (Before I. N. Watt, Esq,, K.M.) Drunkenness.— Joseph Charles was lined ss, with the alternative of 24 hours’ imprisonment ; Win. Stavely, 10a, or 48 hours; John O’Flaherty forfeited his hail; Mary Thomson, 20s, or three days. The last prisoner was further charged with being an habitual drunkard. Constable Vl‘K.inlay having proved the various convictions, she was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labor. Breach of the- Peace. Alice Hawley was charged with having, on the previous day, conducted herself in a right-of-way off Walker street in a manner likely to provoke a breach of the peace.—Constable Kooney said that, while walking through the right-of-way in plain clothes, he saw the accused go into a brothel, and strike another prostitute. The language she used was most disgusting and filthy.—His Worship said that nothing but a heavy sentence would suffice to meet the case, and lined her L 5, or. in default, three mouths’ imprisonment with hard labor. The line was not paid. Vaorancv. —-Margaret Kobinson, an old offender, was charged with having no lawful visible means of support.—Prisoner stated that she had been living with a man for the last seven years, —Constable Kooney had known the woman for two years. She had been formerly liviug with a man named Alexander Moore, but was now stopping in any place. By her conduct she had become a nuisance to the neighborhood. Brisoner produced a small piece of crochet, adding that she earned her living by the needle There being nineteen previous convictions against her, she was sentenced to two mouths’ imprisonment with hard labor. .... —f-T---lor a Wedding Song : Love knot.
