The Presbyteriau Fast Day will be ou Thursday, IBtb instant, not Thursday, 11th, as stated in our issue of yesterday. In future the sittings of the P.M. Court, Palmerston, will be held monthly instead of weekly. The Herald protests against the change. The Hon. Major Picbardson has resigned his seat in the Provincial Council, and a new writ has been issued to supply the vacancy, returnable on the 10th January. With the exception of a few yards the Port Chalmers and Clutha Railways have been joined. The junction will be effected to-morrow morning, when the engine will run from one end of the line to the other. The following tenders for works on the Clutha and Dunedin Pailway have been accepted ; Declamation at the Dunedin Earlway Station, Messrs Procter and Whittaker; Oamanr passenger station, Mr fcj. J. The Artillery Band mustered last night at the Head-quarters Drill-shed for inspechm by Major tkuuson and Cant in Jack After Lieut. Muir had put the Band through a senes of evolutions, the members were addressed by Captain Jack, who complimented them on their smart appearance, and the rapid progress which they were making in music and drill. The Band numbers twentynine at present, of whom twenty-five paraded last night. It is intended to increase the Baud to forty during the forthcoming year.
