THE OAMARU SHOW.
[By Telegraph.] The Oamani Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s Show took place yesterday, ami was a decided success, about 2,000 persons being present. The weather was showery throughout the day. On the whole, it was the best show held iii the district, and manifested a great advance in all branches of breeding. The Ayrshire and sliorthorned cattle were splendid ; the sheep, particularly loug-woolled and halfhreds, very fine ; and the draught stock superior in number and quality to anything before shown in the Colony. The entries in this class were 100. Some fine hackstand thoroughbreds were shown. The principal prize-takers were— Best shorthorn animal, lion. Mr Holmes ; best Ayrshire animal, New Zealand and Australian Land Company ; best merino rams, J. M'Lean ; best Leicester rams, any age, Hon. Mr Holmes; best Lincoln ram, Hon. Mr Holmes ; in Romney Marsh sheep, Dr Webster, _ only exhibitor, took all prizes for full exhibits. Shorthorn, cup, Hou. Mr Holmes ; Ayrshire, cup, New Zealand and Australian Land ('umpany; merino sheep, cup, J. M’Lcaii ; long-woolled sheep, cup, Hon. Mr Holmes; dairy produce, ten guinea cup, Robert Jackson. Reid and Gray were the principal prize-takers in implements. ______
