In this order they passed the stand the first time. The race was a very hot one, and when about three-quarters of a mile had been gone, Papapa bolted off the course, notwithstanding his jockey’s endeavors, and the race here was never in doubt. Templeton still held the lead, with Kakapo second, and going into the straight Lurline came up, took the lead, and won hands down. Kakapo second, Templeton third. Time, 3min. 34sec. Betting at the start: Even on Lurline ; 4 to 1 agst Templeton.
