DENOMINATIONAL EDUCATION.
To the Editor. Sir, —I am delighted to see that the mem* hers of the Church of Fnglaud Synod have wisely decided to encourage, as far as possible, the establishment of denominational schools in this Province, My object in writing to you at present is to suggest that this admirable system might be advantageously extended. Why should we members of the English Church encourage a system of which we disapprove by patronising secular butchers aud bakers ? What is to hinder us from establishing, e.g., a butcher’s shop in Dunedin, to be conducted on sound Church of England principles ? There can hardly be a doubt that such an establishment, under proper clerical supervision, would be a great success, both commercially ami spiritually. —I am, &c., Anglicahus. Dunedin, November 4. P.S. —No doubt the services of the Rev. Mr Stanford as inspector of such an institution could be readily secured. I mention his name because he is the initiator of this scheme in the Synod, and undoubtedly will deserve all the credit which may belong to its success.
