Wallabi sailed on Saturday, for the schooner United Brothers arrived this morning with 30,00 ft. timber. The barque Horatio Sprague was towed to sea by the tug Geelong on Saturday evening. The steamers Samson, for Oamaru, and Maori, for Lyttelton, via Tiiparu, sailed last n *Thc coasters Fanny, from Waikouaiti, and Hope, from Kakauui, with meats for slop Peter Denny, arrived yesterday. A ship was signalled to the southward this morning. The tug Geelong proceeded down to tow her up. „ , We notice that the Harbor Co. s paddle steamer Golden Age commences to run on Monday next, making an excursion from Dunedin to Portobfello, Port Chalmers, and the TT pflifls. On Saturday afternoon a trial trip of the • twin screw Result was made as far as the 1 imam buoy and back. Since she has been purchased by Captain Donseirq the whole of her machinery has been taken to pieces and refitted, which has increased her speed. The old propellers are found to be to small and new ones of three Wades are to be fitted, which will greatly increase her speed. We thank her pursei, Mi C. J. Edminston, for report and files. She sails again for the North to-morrow afternoon. The schooner Jessie, from Greymouth, with a cargo of coal for Oamaru, arrived at Port Chalmers last night, after a long and tedius passage. Captain Crabbe reports leaving Greymouth on the 18th nit., with a light S.W. wind and fine weather until the 22nd, when it blew a heavy gale from the S.E. ; anchored at Port Underwood; left again on tho 23rd, with a light N.W. wind, which increased with a heavy sea, until the 25th j on the 26th was five miles north of Oamaru, with a dead calm; on the 26th a S.W. wind sprang up, increasing to a heavy gale ; hove the vessel to, and drifted back off Bank’s Peninsula, when a heavy sea struck her on the starboard bow, carrying away the boat and everything moveable off the deck; anchored in Ocean Bay pn the 30th, with a strong S.W. wind; got under weigh at 8 a.m. on the 31st; passed Oamaru on the morning of the 2nd, with strong N.E. winds to arrival.
