In no previous mouth since this business has been established, has the same amount of trade been done as in the month just closed, 'i bis proves to the advertiser that his idea of doing business, and the low prices at which he sells his goods, are appreciated by his friends and the public. Space will not permit quoting prices for goods in the various departments ; but to give an idea of the value given for cash compared with other houses, the Glove Department may be taken as a criterion. It is now bccomming pretty well known that every house in Dunedin, with the exception of STEWART’S, is selling Josephine Kid Gloves at 5s a pair. Stewart being satisfied with a limited profit, continues to sell the very best brands at 4s Gd, Next may be mentioned the celebrated Glove, with sewed hacks, at 2s 6d, for wdiich this Establishment is famed. This is the only house in the City where these Gloves are to be had at the price. They are now worn by almost everybody, and give great satisfaction. The Dress Department is worthy of inspection. A few Novelties in made up Costumes —the nicest goods in the market. Anticipating a large demand for Prints, J. S. was fortunate in getting the pick of the New Stocks, and secured the choices patterns, and only such goods as will not only give good wear, but stand the test of washing. A few Bordered Prints and Batistes—excellent goods. Twenty Grenadine Drosses, in all the new stripes, 25 per cent, cheaper than in any former season ; prices, 12s Gd and 17s Gd. Part of a Manufacturer’s Stock of a splendid lot, bought at a discount, will be sold cheap.
