The amount of revenue received at the Cus-tom-house on goods cleared for consumption this day, was L 137 Hs 4d. A fair trade was done during the week, although the demand for supplies cannot be said to have been very brisk. This is in great measure to be accounted for through the high rate of carriage, which has prevented up-country storekeepers going freely into stock. 1 lie new teas which arrived last week have not yet been brought forward. The market is, however, likely to be well supplied, as two other cargoes are expected shortly to arrive. Sugars have moved off freely at former quotations, and the news to hand from Melbourne by the Albion has given increased confidence to holders. Iso decided advance can be quoted. r lhe improvement noted last week in brandy k confirmed. Hennessy’s has been placed at 10s, and Otard s at Js. The demand is good. Bottled ale is still scarce, no supply having been received. A parcel of Younger’s ale, to arrive, was placed at 10s Od . in bond. Stout is coming in more freely. Blood s may be quoted at 10s 3d. and Guinness’s at 11s, in bond, sales having been made at those prices. Dried fruits are very firm ; currants commanding 4£d, Eleme raisins G|d, and Sultanas God. Salmon is somewhat easier, and may lie quoted at 15*. Messrs Hayman and Co. have purchased the first shipment of Cameron’s new season’s tobacco ; the price has not transpiied. The market is firm with a fair demand. Kerosene in bond commands Is lOd to Is KLd, and candles Is ll^d. The market in breadstufls continues very quiet. The inquiry for flour has not improved to any extent, and transactions have not gone beyond the ordinary trade sale. The quotations are at LT2 5s for sacks and Ll2 15s for bags. Second-class Hour has a fair sale at LlO 10s to Lll 10s. Bran is firm at L 5. Pollard, L 5. Oatmeal, L 23. For wheat there is a much better demand; prime milling lots find buyers at 5s 4d ; second class from 4s 3d to 4s Od. Fowl wheat, 4s 3d. Oats are quiet at 4s 2d to 4s id. Barley is not being dealt in. Loan and Mercantile Agency telegraphs under date Loudon 18th : 1 lie wool sales are progressing firmly. The cross-bred greasy, clothing, and washed market is firmci. Clothing washed and scoured have advanced Id since the close of the last sales. I p to date, 75,000 bales were sold.
