Wheat is at 5s to 5s 6d, and oats at 5s 3d to 5s 6d. Bailey is very scarce, and is quoted at about 8s Od. Potatoes are in good supply at L2 10s to L 3. Sawing timber-white pmo atl2s per 100 feet; and kauri at 14s fid per do. ( oal is at L 3 per ton. Freights are likely to be Is 8d less than last year. The Excelsior and Queen Bee will be on the berth shortly. Shearers are asking 20s to 22s Od per 100. A large amount of public works is held over, owing to the want of labor. It is calculated that 800 men could be absorbed by the public works alone the day they landed.
