SEALED TENDERS will be received atthe General Post Office, Wellington, until Saturday, the Ist November next, for the performance during a period of twelve month*, of either the undermentioned Steam j Services, connecting the East and West Coasts of the Middle Island. 1. A steamer to leave Dunedin once in every month, proceeding to the West Coast of the Middle Island by way of Cook and Eoveaux Straits, alternately. The steamer to call at LyttePou, Picton, Nelson, Westport, Greyraouth, Hokitika, and the BluiL 2. To leave Dunedin once every fortnight, tha steamer proceeding to the West Coast by the i'orth and South routes, alternately, ca'ling at the ports previously named; or .3. To leave Dunedin and Nelson every alternate fortnight. The steamer from Dunedin proceeding to the West Coast via Foveaux Straits, and returning via Cook Straits ; and the steamer from Nelson proceeding direct to the West Coast, and returning via Foveaux and Cook Straits. Both steamers to call at the ports specified above. It will be a condition of the service that the steamers, when required, shall call at. or off. the following places, viz.: Oamaru, Timaru, Martin’s Bay, Milford ound, and Preserva tiou Inlet, and Port William and Half Moon Bay in Stewart’s Island, and at such other places as the Government may from time to time direct. Tenderers shall state the names, tonnage, and horse-power of the vessels proposed to be employed in the service.
