WATERWORKS COMPANY.
To the Editor. SIR,—A few months ago I had the unpleasant duty to summon the Waterworks Company of Dunedin for damage done to my property through the bursting of pipes, thereby can?ing me great loss, and, after a protracted ttruggle, the Court awarded a verdict in my favor. My present object in addressing yon is to call your attention and that of the citizens to a similar case now going on in Great King ■treet north; and, I may ad tilth as been in existence for days past, without any public notioe (that I know of) being taken in the matter. It is at the present time a nuisance to pedestrians, dangerous to horses and carriages, and must ultimately, if allowed to {irogress, cost the Company or Corporation a arge sum of money to repair. The Councillors for Leith Ward are generally on the alert, but possibly from being engaged in other onerous duties, may have overlooked this important matter. —I am, &&, William Rkid, Princes street, Dunedin. Dunedin, October 10.
