Mr A. MTCinnou was the successful tenderer for the repairs of the ship Wild Duck, which were commenced this morning. The three-masted sehoonoy Mchunc, which was lately purchased by a Wellington firm, came down from Dunedin and anchored m Careys no less than eight blocks were laid at the Camara breakwater. If the weather continues fine, the onward execution of this work will be now comparatively rapid. The ship Allahabad was removed from the railway pier and anchored off Deborah Bay, and the barque Skimmer of the Waves was removed and moored alongside, and will commence to discharge to-morrow. The 9s. Wanganui was taken out of the floating dock this morning. After swinging at the Dolphin to adjust her compasses, steamed up to Dunedin. She is advertised to make her first trip in the Southern trade on_ Inday, when no doubt she will become a favorite, having splendid accommodation for passengers. The Harbor Company’s s.s. Beautiful Star, from Lyttelton via Timaru, arrived at 10 a. in. this morning and steamed alongside the ship Peter Denny to discharge 700 cases of preserved meats. Reports leaving Lyttelton at op.m, on the 13th, arriving at Timaru at 10 a.m. on the 14th : discharged and took in cargo, and left same night at 8 p.m., arriving as above; experienced fine weather on the passage. We thank her steward, Mr Herbert, for papers. The magnificent iron clipper ship Rokeby Hall, from Liverpool, was towed up by the tug Geolong this morning, and anchored close to the railway pier, after a long passage of 10b days. Capt. Lindsay reports leaving Liverpool on dune 30, the tug leaving the ship off Holyhead on the Ist of July ; was detained for seven days m the Channel by strong S.W. winds, which continned to the Bay of Biscay ; the N.Jiu tiades were caught in lat. JJdeg. N., and were lost in lodeg. K; the Equator was crossed on the Bth of August in long. 28deg. W. ; the S.E. trades were well to the southward, and veiy squally with much rain ; were thirteen days from the Line to 20deg. 8. and JOdeg. W.; was compelled to make one or more tacks on five successive days; the meridian of Greenwich was crossed on the 7th of September in lat. 37deg, S and the meridian of the Cape on the Util in lat. H.Jdeg. S. ; from thence to the Snares had strong breezes, principally from the W. to N.W.; her easting was run down on a general parallel of lat. 48dcg. and oOdeg. S., no ice being met with ; passed the Snares on < the evening of the 12th, with a fine S.W. wind ; variables were then experienced until leaching the Heads at 4 p.m. yesterday, and arriving as above ; she brings three saloon and five steerage passengers, who have enjoyed good health ; the ship arrives iu first-rate order above and below. She will discharge alongside the railway pier, and is w r ell worth a visit, being fitted up in a most beautiful manner.
