A letter in the Tima; states that there has been a great tight between the Chinese and the I’anthays, and that the former who were victorious followed up their success by a slaughter of 30,000 persons. It is stated that Talafcefoo, the capital of this Mahoiuedan fetato of West ern China, had been captured by the Chinese army. The Sultan Sooliman, had died from the effects of poison taken by himself, and the population were all slaughtered, including women and children, while those who abjured, their religion and ate pork were spared. Momien is the next important city of Taleefoo, and lias also been surrounded and must fall, when a second massacre is sip'e to stain the annals of tl>e war,
