THE IMMIGRANTS.
The immigrants by the ship Otago were conveyed to town by the no n train to-day, their luggage being bronght from the old jetty t> its destination by the Clutha line. All a pear to be in the best health, and supprior to those previously introduced. A subscription was got uu amongst the passengers for the widow ot the late Mr M'Dougall, and over L3O subscribed. Mr Colin Allan will re ceivc subscriptions from any one wishing to contribute. M'Dougall leaves a wife and a large family, the youngest being only nine months old. Of the 48 single women, onehalf—consisting of nominated immigrants—have gone to their friends. The young men will be engaged to-morrow, and the young women on Thursday. The whole of the single men ex Dover Castle have been engaged at from LSO to L 55 per annum and found.
