CITY POLICE COURT.

Fki day, September 26. (Before His Worship the Mayor and J. Brown, Esq., J.P.)

Burglary and Robbery,—On the remanded case against William Barnard for burglariously and feloniously entering the shop of Messrs Macdonald and Dohring being called, Sub-Inspector Mallard said : Your Worships, Mr Stout, the accused’s solicitor, waited upon the police a day or two ago, and asked that the case be remanded till to-mor-row, owing to his having to attend the vSupreme Court to day. The police are quite prepared to go ou with the case, but wish to give the accused every chance. Case remanded till to-morrow.

Infringements of the Bye-Laws. —James Stewart, charged with riding on a dray drawn by two horses without holding sufficient reins, was fined 5s and costs. —A charge against Robert Howlisou of depositing building material on the street, the license having expired, was dismissed on payment of costs, the license having been immediately taken out; as was a charge against James M'Pherson of neglecting to clean his premises. John Ayne was mulcted in the sum of 6s and costs for a similar offence ; and Hugh Molloy, for neglecting to keep his cart wheels chained, 10s and costs.
