THE INTERCOLONIAL RIFLE MATCH.

A special meeting of the Council of the Rifle Association was held yesterday afternoon to select representatives at the Intercolonial match. There were present—Major Atkinson, Captain Stavoly (in the chair), Sub-Lieutenants Grant, Wilson, and M'Kenzie, and Volunteers Miller, Richardson, Lambert, King, Spalding, M'Gregor, Nightingale, Crcagh, il. S. Smith, and W. B. Ogilvio. On the minutes being read, Volunteer Miller (Wakari) objected to their adoption, and moved that they be rescinded, because the amendment passed at the last meeting, that the representatives should be chosen by ballot, had been proposed by Captains Goldie and Jamieson, who were not members of the Council, and therefore not entitled to take part in its proceedings, ihe Chairman intimated that his idea was that the last meeting was both of the Council and of the nubcommittee ; and he accordingly hold that Captains Goldie and Jamieson, being members of the latter, the motion was valid The Secretary, Volunteer Spalding, and others shared the Chairman’s opinion; but Volunteer Miller insisted on bis motion being put, avhen it was negatived by e ght against six.—Volunteers Miller and Nightingale then tendered their resignations as candidates ; that of Lieutenant Pell was withdrawn, because of his inability to attend if chosen ; and in withdrawing those of Volunteers M‘Laron and Maun, it was intimated that the South District Rangers having subscribed among themselves enough to send a company lepresentative wished to select their own.

The balloting for four representatives then took place, and resulted as follows Vol. Richardson, Gunner Dohbie, Captain Goldie, and Vol. Laccy. On tho first drawing I'aylro, Reid, ami Goldie were ties; and on being re-drawn Goldie secured Taylor’s place, and Taylor and Reid were made waiting men. At the close of tho meeting Lieut. Muir said he regretted that personal feeding had been shown, and lie was sure that he only expressed the sentiments of others present when he said so.
