It is stated officially that 7,000,000 hectolitres (23,187.500 bushels) of corn will he enough to meet the defiiency occasioned by the failure of the harvest in Franca. H.M.S. Daphne captured, in the Indian Ocean, an Arab dhow, which originally started with 300 slaves, but at the time of the vessel’s capture there were only 50 of the slaves alive. The others had died from small-pox. Eight deaths from cholera occurred in Par's on the 11th.
The Government of Hungary, in consequence of the failure of the harvest in that country, contemplate extensive importations of Australian cereals. The Tichborne trial is still proceeding. At the Soldiers’ Industrial Exhibition at Aldershot, the 18th Royal Irish hail a very large and varied display. Their exhibits consisted principally of memorials of their soldiering in New Zealand. There was also shown a table of New Zealand woods, made by the officers. Pig iron stands at L(> Is in the London market.
