Monday, September 22, {Before His Worship the Mayor and J. Brown, Esq., J.P.)

Drunkenness. —James Mahone, Joseph Heron, and Edward Sutton, all of whom had been in custody since Saturday night, were discharged. Disorderly Conduct. —William Mockford was found guilty of using obscene language, and conducting himself in a disorderly manner in Princess street on Sunday, and was lined 40, in default three days’ imprisonment.—-Alfred Jones, for inciting the last prisoner to resist Constable Rooney, was fined 60s, with the option of seven days’ imprisonment. Bye-law Cases. —Robert Marks, for al lowing his chimney to be on fire; and Samuel Crafts, for permitting his horse to stray, were each fined 2s 6d and costs.— Norman Wood was charged with placing a quantity of building material in High street, on the 19th inst., without the permission of the City Council. Defendant made use of very insolent language on being summoned, and misconducted himself in Court. He was Hued 5s and costs. He was further mulcted in a similar penalty for re-building a wall in High street, without giving notice to the City Council.— I Thos. Kitchingmau was fined 10s and costs for allowing his horse to wander in the North Dunedin Recreation Ground, on the 16th inst.
