THE D.J.C. AND THE DISQUALIFICATION OF REAY.
To the Editor.
Sir,— Seeing in your last night’s issue a letter copied from the Waikouaiti Herald , dated August 28, Chrischurch, reflecting on me for having voted in favor of the disqualification of Reay being removed, I can oply say ip reply thereto that as far back as last March 1 proposed in pomipittee that the disquakfipation be removed, and that Mr R. H. Campbell had not the slightest influence with me as to my voting for the removal of the said disqualification. 1 also distinctly deny that Mr R. M. Campbell has ever purchased any clothing or other articles whatever from m e * an d B Mr Campbell has so stated, I must say it is quite untrue, and Unworthy of a gentleman. la conclusion, a* far as my knowledge goes, I believe that M| R. H. Campbell had no influence with the Dunedin J. Club, and that his appearance in Dunedin was more damaging to Reay than useful. —I am, &c., J. Beany. Dunedin, Sept. 19.
