THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY.

[By Electric Telegraph,] (from our special correspondent.) Wellington, September 19, The meeting to-day of those who voted for the Provincial Loan Bill was well attended. The Government intend to introduce in the Provincial Loans Bill clauses embodying the principle of the Bill rejected by the Upper House. The meeting decided that the Legislative Council should not dictate as to whether the Government should go to the country or resign. Mr V°B would make a statement at 2.30 pm. to-day. The mem berg present at the meeting were Messrs Andrew, Atkinson, Halhgate, Bluett, Bradshaw, J. E. Brown, Bryce, Bunny, Carrington, Cuthbertson, Filaherbert, Fox, Harrison, Hunter, Jackson, Johnston, Katene, T, Kelly, W. Kelly, Luckie, Macandrew, M ‘Gillivray, M‘Clashan, M‘Lean, Mervyn, O’Conor, O'Neill, Ormond, O’Rorke, Farata, Parker, Pearce, Pyke, Reynolds, Rhodes, Richardson, Richmond, Seymour, T L. Shepherd, Shephard, Steward, Studholme, Swanson, Taiaroa, Vogel, Webb, White, and Williamson. Messrs Brandon, Henderson, and Reeves were absent. It was decided to go on with the business of the country, but another meeting of the supporters of the Government will be held on Tuesday. _________
