A society for the promotion of scientific industry has just been established in Man* cheater.
One profession is safe from the invasion of women. She may enter the army, but it is impossible that she can man the navy. In York glass-lined iron pipes are being used to convey water. The friction is lessened, the pipes are always clean, and the water is kept pure. Between the glass and iron is a layer of plaster of Paris, which, being a non-conductor of heat, prevents the water from freezing in the winter.
