Monday, September 1. (Before His Worship the Mayor, and J. Brown, Esq., J. P.)

Drunkenness.— Thomas Miller, Charles Barrwood, John Beeves, and Thomas Cox wore each fined ss, with the usual alternative. Cox and Reeves were further charged with breaking a pane of glass, the property of Mrs Cuthbertson ; but as the prosecutrix failed to put in .an appearance, they were dismissed.

‘ ‘FiotiTlNG. —Thomas Dixon and Duncan Muirhead were charged with committing a preach of the peace by fighting in the' Provincial Sale Yards, on Saturday afternoon. Muirhead' was fined 20s, with the option of twenty-four hours* imprisonment; and Dixon; not appearing, forfeited his bail.— Robert Glover and William Simpson wert each fined 20s, or in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment, with hard labor.— Thomas smith was charged with resisting Detective parrel in the execution of his duty, by attempting to release the prisoner Glover from legal custody. He stated that, not knowing who Far/el was, he asked him to let the men go, as they were not making a noise, but to his astonishment, within a very short time, he found himself in the lock up. He was dismissed with a caution.

Insulting a Public Officer. —Archibald M'CaUum was charged with being drunk

and with using abusive language to Thomas J. Goodman, Inspector of Markets. He pleaded guilty, and was fined 40s, with the usual alternative of three days’ imprisonment.
