OUR VOLUNTEERS.
We continue our suggested regulations for increasing the efficiency of the force reserve. 30. The reserve shall consist of all men who have served three years as efficient Volunteers. 31. Every member, before enrolment, shall take the oath of allegiance, and sign form C ; the same as for enrolled volunteers, form B, substituting reserve force for Volunteer force. 32. At the end of each year commanding officers of corps will be credited with 15s for each man on the reserve roll of his corps, who has, in addition to the class firing, attended two inspections, two drills under the staff, two parades, and the annual inspection. INSPECTIONS. 33. Every corps shall parade for inspection four times in each year, on such days and at such hours as shall be appointed by the officer commanding the district, when two-thirds of the enrolled members must be present. 31. To pass inspection all Volunteers will be required to satisfy the Inspecting Officer in the drills and exercises peculiar to the branch in which they are serving. parades. 35. In the definition of an effective, a parade shall mean an assembly of a corps under arms, whereat no less than two-thirds of the enrolled members are present for one hour at least. Should the corps, having assembled in sufficient numbers, be dismissed for inclement weather before the hour be passed, the parade will be allowed. 30. A company or staff drill shall mean an assembly of a corps for drill whereat not less than twenty members are present. 37. A battalion parade shall mean an assemblage of two or more corps under the conditions of the regulations defining a parade. 38. All inspections and parades will be in uniform. DISMISSAL, DISCHARGE, OR’SERVICES DISPENSED WITH. 39. Any officer who does not attend the number of drills prescribed for the efficient members of his corps to qualify them for certificates of efficiency, will not be allowed to retain his commission unless there are special reasons for a relaxation of this regulation. 40. Persons dismissed from a Volunteer corps for misconduct are not in any case to be enrolled in another corps without the special sanction of the officer commanding the district. 41. The officer commanding a corps may, with the consent of the officer commanding the district, discharge any Volunteer, and take him off the roll of his corps for any offence, the nature of such to be decided by the officer commanding the district. 42 The commanding-officer of a corps is to give to any Volunteer His discharge, provided
he has completed his terra of service, or that he is leaving the Colony in the form prescribed , and such Volunteer shall have his period of service as an efficient inserted in such discharge, the certificate to bear the signature of the commanding-officer of the corps and of a stan officer. TRAN'-FERS. 4.3 Volunteers can be transferred from one corps to another with the consent of the officers of both companies. 44, Volunteers will he transferred from one district to another, the district adjutants making the necessary arrangements, the Volunteer having the privilege to select the corps ho will serve in of the same branch as he left. . 45, All transfers from one district to another to be notified to the defence office. LEAVE OF ABSENCE. 45. Leave of absence will only be granted to the extent of six months : an officer exceeding the time will not be allowed to retain his commission ; a Volunteer will be struck off the roll of his corps. .. 47, Officers or Volunteers visiting other districts can attend drill with the corps ox the district visited, and will receive a certificate of the drill from the officer commanding the company with which ho has drilled for the information of the officer commanding the company to which h* belongs. ♦ I hereby certify that A.B. of tho Volunteers has attended Captain Company.
