THE ENGLISH ELEVEN’S VISIT TO THE COLONIES.
The Australasian is informed that negotiations have at last been concluded with Mr W. G. Grace for a visit of an “ All England Eleven,” under his management and captaincy, the team to comprise W. G. Grace, G, F. Grace, A. N. Hornby, A. J. Bush, A. E. Brice, James Southenon, H. Jupp, R. Humphrey, M. M‘lntyre, W, Oscroft Finder, and Lillywhite, jun. The gentle men interested in the speculation have appointed as manager Mr W. C. Biddell, who was for sever.*! years hon. secretary and vice-president of the M. G.O. It has been decided to extend the benefits to be derived from the visit of the Eleven to the various club? wffio may be desirous of playing matches, by naming a certain sum per match, and leaving the entire control and management of the match in the hands of the local men. What matches the team play must be arranged between December 26 ami March 20, as they will return to England by the mail leaving Melbourne on March 23, after a stay of about 100 days in Australia. From the Lyttelton Times wc learn that, in reply to the question from the Canterbury Intel provincial Cricket Committee as to whether Otago would join this Province in arranging for a visit of the All England Eleven, expected to visit Australia during the coming season, a telegram has been received to the effect that the Otago Cricket Club have already written to Mr Biddell, who is bringing out the Eleven, asking him what his terms would be for a visit to that Province. Mr Cottorill, secretary of tin Interprovincial Cricket Committee, has also written on behalf of Canterbury to Mr Biddell requesting to be made acquainted with his terms.
