London, August 7. Parliament was prorogued by Commission on the sth. The Queen thanked the members of both Houses for making prompt provision for the Duke of Edinburgh, and trusted that his approaching marriage with the Grand Duchess of Russia will prove a new tie between the two countries. She congratulated the country on the success of Sir Bartle Frcre’s mission for the abolition of the Zanzibar slave trade. A commercial treaty had been concluded with France, and extradition of criminals treaties witli Italy, Denmark, Sweden, and Brazil, and negotiations with tire same effect were proceeding with other States. She thanks the Commons for their liberality in enabling the Government to meet promptly the Geneva award. The revenue is fully answering expectations, although trade is slack. The Bishop of Winchester has been killed by a fall from his horse. The Bishop of Ely succeeds him.
Seventy Danish emigrants for New Zealand are now in a hospital ship on the Thames at Gravesend. Four cases of cholera broke out amongst them, and two deaths occurred.
