Captain Welsh reports leaving Sydney on the 29th July; encountered heavy S.E. and E.S.t. winds, with high cross seas until the Bth, then in lat. 4odeg., long. 164deg. 21min., when a terrific galei from. E.N.E., accompanied by heavy seas; one breaking on board filled the starboard boat, and the davits gave way ; the next sea carried away the boat, which was lost; on the 9th the weather moderated; made the Solanders on the 10th, with a strong southerly wind, arriving off Otago Heads early on Tuesday morning. We thank Captain Welsh for Sydney papers. The Harbor Company’s s.s. Beautiful Star arrived at 8.15 this morning, and steamed alongside the ship J. N. Fleming to discharge cargo. Reports leaving Lyttelton at 4.30 p m. on the 11th : arrived at Akaroa at 10p.m; left again at 4 p.m. on the 12th; • arrived at Timaru at 5.30 a.m. on the 13th; left at B.L> p.m. ; experienced fine weather, and arrived as above.
