The amount of revenue received at the Ous tom-house on goods cleared for consumption this dav, was L 959 16s 7d. Mr Grant, the manager of the Shotover Terrace Gold Mining Company, reports, for the information of those interested in the company, that he is in receipt of a telegram from one of the (Queenstown directors and the working manager, announcing the result of the vciy imperfect ami interrupted working during July to be 163 ounces of gold. Now that the weather has improved, and miners can be had at reasonable wages, it is stated that a steady improvement in the yield may be looked for. The directors do not propose declaring any dividend until the returns to August 31 have been returned. These will, in fact, represent something like six weeks’ real work. The following is a comparative return of the quantity of gold exported from the several Provinces of New Zealand for the half-years ended June 30,1873, and June 30, 1872 : Provinces. June 30,1873. Juno 30,1872.
The total value for the half-year ended June 30,1873, was L 1,111,626 ; and for the half-year ended June 30,1872, L 1,110,200.
[By Telegraph.] Sydney, via Auckland.— Hennessy’s case brandy is in great demand at 27s ; Martell’s and Hennessy’s bulk brandy is in good demand at 7s. Bottled beers are difficult to move, except at a reduction. Oilmen’s stores are firmly held. Melbourne, via Auckland.— l,2oo cases of salmon have been sold at 15s 9d. The cargo of the Burnside, consisting of 600 tons of Japan rice, realised from Lls 10s to Ll6. Large transactions have taken plaee in brandies. Martell’s dark has been sold at 7s 3d; 75 hogsheads and 150 quarters of pale brandy brought 7s Id; 30 quarters of Hennessy’s, to arrive, were sold at 7s 3d; 100 quarter-casks of Otard’s brandy have been sold at 6s 6d ; 1,300 bags of maize have been sold at 4s 4d to 4s 4.V1; 5,000 bags of Oregon barley have been sold at 5s Bd. A private London telegram, dated July 22, quotes brandy as having risen Is Gdper gallon. Adelaide, via Auckland.—Wheat is at 5s 81d ; and country Hour, Ll2 12s.
