HIGH WARD ELECTION.
To the, Editor .
Sir,— l am afraid that during the municipal elections my wits have been wool gathering, for I am all at sea with respect to what has been done in the kerbing question. But the election of a councillor for the High Ward recalls it to my mind. Ido think that the present system is a very unfair one in a town like Dunedin—unfair, indeed, anywhere. The kerbing is for the community as a whole, and should be provided for in the rates. Let us see to it here, that the candidates for our votes are sound on this point, and if they object, on the ground that m my citizens have already had i o dole forth in payment of (in many cases) a uselessly expensive description of kerb, let it be replied that a pro rata allowance might be made to such from their city rates year by year,—l am, &c., A High Ward Elector. Dunedin, August 4.
