Mr and Mrs Kinnimond, Mr Julius Campbell, Messrs Grierson, Marshall, Blackadder, Turner, Cole, Brooke, Ryde, Pyrke, and forty-one in the steerage. Wallabi, s.s., 101 tons, Leys, from the Bluff. Passengers : Messrs Matheson, Jackson, Hope, Ferguson, Jamieson, Swan, Sterling, Brett, Sheen, Strange, and five in the steerage. Lady of the Lake, s.s., 66 tons, Tall, from the Molyneux. Messrs M‘Meckan, Blackwood, and Co.’s steamer Alhambra arrivedat 7.30 a.m. yesterday. Her mails and passengers were conveyed by a special train to Dunedin. Captain Underwood reports leaving Hobson’s Bay at 10.30 a.m. on the 27th with the English mail, ex Baroda; passed Swan Island on the 2Stb, at 3 p.ra. ; passed the Solanders at 2 p.m., on the Ist , arrived at the Bluff at 6 a.m. on the 2nd ; left same day at 4 p.m., and arrived as above, having experienced westerly winds and fine weather during the passage. We thank her purser, Mr Jago, for our flies. The New Zealand Company’s steamer Wellington arrived at 9 a.xn. yesterday. Captain Carey reports leaving Onehunga at 11.50 a.m. on the 28 th ; had strong easterly weather, accompanied by heavy rain and squalls to New Plymouth ; arrived at 7 a.m. on the 29th; left again at 8.30 a.m. ; had strong S.W. breeze till 7 p.m., suddenly shifting to the S.E. ; during one of the heavy squalls carried away the main boom; arrived at Nfilson at midnight; left again at 0.45 p.m. on the 30th ; arrived at Picton at 8.45 p.m.; left_ again at midnight; steamed down the Sound till 1,30 a,m., when a boat containing Mr Nancarrow, inspector of steamboats, and the second officer of the s.s. Jlangitoto came alongside and reported that vessel ashore near Jackson’s Head ; altered the course, and proceeded full speed toward the Head ; arrived at 2.30 a.m. alongside the wreck, which was resting on a ledge of rocks 400 yards inside Jackson’s Head; lowered the boats, and commenced removing the mails, luggage, and cargo from the after hold (the fore cabin, fore hold, and engine-room being already full of water). This was continued till 9.30 a. m., when everything removable was transhipped; steamed back to Ship Core, where the passengers had been removed to by the boats ; received all on board, and returned to the wreck for the purpose of leaving the officer and boat’s crew to look after the vessel, but as she was fast settling down picked up the boat again and started for Wellington, arriving at 3.45 p.m.; left Wellington at 2.30 p.m. on the Ist; arrived at Lyttelton at 9.15 a.m. on the 2nd; left again at 1.30 p.m., and arrived as above. We thank her purser, Mr W. J. Wilcocks, for our Northern files. She sails again to-morrow afternoon for the North.
The Wal'ahi left the Bluff at 6 p.m. on Saturday, and arrived at 11.35 yesterday and passed up to Dunedin. The Colonial Government p.s. Luna arrived this afternoon with the mails from the Rangitoto for transhipment to the Alhambra, which leaves with the Suez mail to-morrow afternoon.
