The advanced rate of wages among working men has been pointed to by Mr Justice Henman as the curious cause of a proportionate increase of bigamy. There is a story of a doctor who went to settle in a village out West, and on the firai night of his arrival was sent for to attond a sick child. He looked at the little suff'crei very attentively, and then delivered this oracular opinion:—“ This hyar babe’s got the small-pox, and I ain’t posted up on pus tides. We roust approach this case by cir cular treatment. Von give the little cim this draught. That’ll send him into fits. Jben send fof mi I graduated on fits, ”
