THE VOLUNTEERS.
The first competition for the modal presented by Mr Tolmie to the Portobello Rifle Volunteers, took place at the Company’s butts on Saturday. The day was fine, with a bright sun in rear, the wind being from the left. The conditions were : Ranges, 200, 400, and 600 yards ; five shots at each range ; Wimbledon targets throughout. The medal was to he won twice in succession, or three times at intervals. The following were the highest scorers
