In consequence of an agreement entered into after a Meeting of tho Shareholders of this Bank, held in London, on the 19th May ultimo, I have arranged to hand over, on TUESDAY, the Ist JULY PROXIMO, the whole of its business in this Colony to the NATIONAL BANK OF NEW ZEALAND (LIMITED), which Bank will in future carry on business in SGVBmI prCUUSCS hitherto made use of by the Bank of Otago for Banking purposes. On and after the first proximo no new business will be taken by the Bank of Otago, but it will continue td be represented at its several Branches, as long as found necesaaiy, merely for the purpose of completing the transfer to the National Bank, The National Bank will issue tho Bank of Otago Notes meanwhile, and pay gold for them on demand here.
