ELECTION INTELLIGENCE.
MAKBREWA. The polling for a member for this district took place yesterday, when Mr Wilson, a supporter of the Opposition, was returned. The Toting was— Wilson • - ■ 104 Macarthur - 99 Majority for Wilson • 5 At the general election, in 1871, there were four candidates, the voting being—Macarthur, 73; Wilson, 49; Pratt, 36 ; Tossack, 5. WAITAKL We hear that Mr George Sumpter hag been returned tor this district without opposition, ‘ MOUNT RENGER. ~ ' The polling for a member for this district took place yesterday, but up to the closing of the Telegraph 1 ffice we had only received the result of the voting at Roxburgh, where Mr Heighten obtained sixty-six votes; Mr Ireland, sixty-three ; Mr Nicholson, four; and Mr Bradshaw, none. A Clyde correspondent telegraphs :—“ It is an unmitigated fallacy that Hazlett’s committee brought in fifty voters from the Bannockburn and Nevis, Only eight voters came from those districts. Each of the districts was fairly canvassed, and no undue influence was brought to bear upon the election,” KAIKORAI. The polling at Kaikorai booth, to'day, was— Roberts - - - - - 25 Barr - - - - ;R) Mr Roberts’s return is certain.
