CITY POLICE COURT.
Monday, June 23. (Before his Worship the Mayor.) Drunkenness. —George Francis South was discharged with, a caution, having bsen locked up since Saturday. Theft. —John E. Goodfellow was charged with stealing one pair of boots, on the 19th inst., of the value of 15s, the property of Lewis Matheson, master of the schooner Pioneer. He pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to fourteen days’ imprisonment, with hard labor. Obscene Language. —.Tames Vf. Cane was fined 20s, with the option of twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. -Lucy Davey was charged by Louisa Gordon with making use of insulting language towards her in Manor place on the 18th inst. He was fined 10s and costs, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment with hard ;labor. Mr E. Cook defended. Bye-law Cases. —David Davidson, for driving on the Main South road without sufficient reins, was fined 20s and costs ; John Williams, allowing the chimney of his house to be on fire, 2s 6d; Edward M‘Ewen, Robert Cleghorn, John Brown, Andrew VDCabe, and Robert Young, neglecting to have the proper tare weight painted on their carts, each 5s and costs. A charge against George Deans, of driving after dark in Princes street without a light, was dismissed.
