M'MAHON PRESIDENT OF THE FRENCH REPUBLIC.
Paris, May 26. After an uproarious scene in the Assembly, the Conservative resolution directed against the Government was adopted by 360 against 344. M. Dufaure, Minister of Justice, then announced the resignation of the Ministry and M. Thiers. Marshal M‘Mahon was elected President immediately by 390 votes, the members of the Left abstaining from recording their votes, M‘Mahon accepted the position, and promised to respect the Republic and maintain order. France is tranquil, andthe Radical leaders recommend obedience to the laws. _ The functionaries under the Republic are resigning, and the Duo do Broglie is forming a Ministry. May 26, evening. The following is the new Ministry : —Due de Broglie, Foreign Affairs ; Emoul, Minister of Justice; Bente, Minister of the Interior; Magne, Minister of Finance ; General Cissey, Minister of War; AdtniralDampierre D’ Homey, Minister of Marine; Balbic, Minister of Instruction and Public Worship; De Seviligny, Minister of Public Works; Boullerie, Minister of Agriculture and Commerce. The French rentes have risen two-and-a-quarter per cent.
