POLITICAL INTELLIGENCE.
Mr James Hazlett stands for the Dunstan district, and Messrs Charles Colclough, John Marsh, and Duncan M'Kellar for the Kawarau.
Our Naaeby correspondent telegraphs today :—“ The election excitement here is Intense. The local candidate, Mr DeLa-tour. addressed a crowded meeting last night, and was attentively listened to. His views were endorsed by the meeting, and an unanimous vote of confidence passed. Messrs Mervyn and Armstrong will address the electors on Saturday evening. Messrs DeLatour and Oliver are the popular candidates.” Mr Vincent Pyke has determined to stand at Tuapeka. He was invited to stand for Naseby and Dunstan, but was influenced not to do so for the latter place, as he would be brought in opposition to Mr Shepherd. Mr Pyke has, we believe, every chance of being returned.
The nomination for Waihola took place yesterday. Messrs A. Mollison and W. Black were proposed. The show of hands was: Mollison, 10; Black, 2. The poll takes place on the 9th.
