POLITICAL INTELLIGENCE.
Mr Oliver offers himself as a candidate for the representation of the Mount Ida district in the Provincial Council. It is said that Mr Vincent Pyke will also be a candidate. We{Dunstan Times) hear on good authority that a requisition, influentially and numerously signed, is to be presented to Mr Vincent Pyke, asking him to allow himself to be placed in nomination as a candidate for the Dunstan District in the Provincial Council. Mr Pyke, we are in a position to say, has left the Government service, therefore we have but little doubt of his acquiescing. For the seat there is likely to be some opposition, as Mr Shepherd, Mr W. Greenbank, and MrJ.C. Chappie are spoken of as being in the field. For the honor of representing the Kawarau, the only two candidates as yet mentioned are Messrs Jas. Hazlett and M. Fraer. Mr Luks opposes Mr M'Kenz’.e at Waihemo.
