THE COUNTRY.
Macrae’s Flat.— The weather in this locality still continues broken—alternate sunshine and rain having prevailed during the past week. To-day (18th) there appears a more decided sign of a change than I have noticed for some time, which I trust will take place, as we have an abundant supply of water to last for a considerable period.—Mining matters are, on the whole, dull, although, as the last escort showed, there seems to be a slight tendency to improvement. —A petition is being got up, memorialising the authorities respecting the deplorable state of the road between this and Shag Valley. Traffic is much impeded in consequence, and for all the good that can be done, now the season is so far advanced, is likely to continue so. —Mr H. W. Robinson, R.M., will hold a sitting of the Court here next Thursday, when, from all account# there will be several cases of interest heard before him.
