The amount of revenue received at the Cus-tom-house on goods cleared for consumption this day, was L9OO Is sd.

Melbourne,— ln the import market a moderate amount of business has been transacted. In breadstuffs we report a fair inquiry at very full rates, but supplies are still very restricted; we are in consequence without any business to report beyond the sales which have reached us through the auction rooms. Country brands of flour were cleared out at Ll4 to the extent of 50 tons, and 50 tons of town flour were placed under offer at a similar figure. Trade parcels find buyers at Ll4 10s to Ll4 15s, and for lines Ll4 to Ll4 5s is asked. At auction, good wheat realised 6s ; and for a small lot of very prime as much as Gs 2£d was got. No business otherwise has come before us. Oats are very Bvleable indeed; publicly, 1,000 bags were quitted at 3s 9d to 4s sd, according to sample, while for seed as much as 4s 9d was paid. We learn of the quittance of 6,000 bushels, privately, at 4s to 4s Maize is very saleable at 4s 6d. For sugars we continue to report a good trade demand, and fair parcels, for actual trade requirements, are moving off. Brewing crystals have been quitted at L 39 10s to L4O. 1,309 bags and pockets, the damaged portion of the Boston Yale’s shipment, were cleared off publicly this forenoon at L 34 to L4O net. Tobaccoes are looked upon with more favor, as shipments are likely to fall off. Cameron’s agents report that < the last of the season’s consignments are advised by this mail, and they only consist of 150 cases Venus, and 70 quartertierces Eaven twist. Woolpacks have been a food deal run after, and we hear of a largo usiness pending. In liquids, sales of Otard’s 1870 pale brandy have been made at 5s -Ud, and Hennessy’s has been quitted at 6s 9ci We learn that since Friday last fully 2,500 quartercasks have changed hands. Case Hennessy’s been quitted at 26s 3d. A parcel of Jeffrey’s bottled ale has been placed at 12s. Advices to hand are still unsatisfactory, owing to the continual advances on all classes of merchandise, thus preventing the execution of orders. Iron goods have risen 15 per cent, to 20 per cent. Another advance of LI per ton on fencing wire is also required. Indiarubber goods have gone up 7i per cent,, plate glass, 10 per cent., plated-ware, 10 per cent., French and German musical instruments 20 per cent. On earthenware a further rise is also threatened, almost everydescription being thus more or less affected. Foo-Cbow-Foo advices reach to March 12, but the tea season being over there were no vessels in port loading, and there was nothing whatever doing, some or the circulars being even discontinued until the approach of the new season. From Hon" Kong to March 20, we learn that the Marquis of Argyle had been taken up to load for Melbourne and Sydney, and the Gap-Sing-Moon for Melbourne alone. There was a great demand for vessels to load here from Saigon to Java at 50 to 55 cents, and from Hong Kong to Java at 45 to 57i cents. —Ary us, May 8.
