The Dailij Telcgrcph hears that Dr Featherston’s station at Akitio has been let to a Canterbury runholder. The gentleman so often spoken of in novels, who riveted people with his gaze, has obtained employment in a boiler manufactory, wilh extra pay, on account of his peculiar faculty. The new Westland County Chairman has disclosed the financial position of the county. The annual income, he states, does little mure than pay working expenses. Westland is in debt to the extent of 14(1,673, of which L13,7($ requires immediate settlement.
