To find a Good Bookkeeper.—Apply at any circulating library. The Westport Times says : —The Ngakawhau coal mine bids fair to become a New Zealand wonder. In the main tunnel the coal has been opened up to the height of about twenty feet or thereabouts, and the crown of the seam has not yet been cut through. In putting in this tunnel the seam was found to, intend not only almost horizontally, but also near the end of the tunnel to take a sudden dip perpendicularly. A recent attempt has been made to find the extent of this dip, but as yet the underlay, as indicated near the mouth of the. tunnel, has uot been reached. 'J he seam has thus been proved for thirty fact in thickness, and its full except from underlay to cro vn is as yet unknown. The same journal adds the fallowing report from Messrs M'Meckan, Blackwood, and Co., upon trial of six tons of the Ngakawhau coal:—“ The six tons of your coal ex Lizzie Guy we gave a very fair trial on bo ard the ss. Mdinga. The engineer’s report is very satisfactory ; indeed, he was greatly pleased with the peat, We trust you will meet with cvsvy success in your undertaking.”
