THE VOLUNTEERS.
The first competition far the Portobello Rifle Company’s new Challenge Medal took place at the company’s butts on Saturday afternoon. The day was not fit for shooting ; a thick mist and heavy rain made the target almost invisible, and to make matters worse the tide came over the range, so that the shooters were standing in water. Conditions :—Medal to be won three times; ranges, 200 and 300 yards; seven shots at each range ; Wimbledon targets. The following are the highest scorers : 200 300
There were twenty competitors. The ranges at the next competition will be 400, £OO, and 600 yards.
