EXTRACTS FROM HOME CORRESPONDENCE. “ Since date of last letter shipments have been despatched by the several vessels bound for your port, all of which, with others longer afloat, cannot fail to open up to your entire satisfaction and secure the great desideratum—viz., a still larger increase of business. ‘ ‘ # * * * * “ Mr Ewinu (who is at present in the manufacturing districts of Scotland), from his lona experience and thorough knowledge of the requirements of the Dunedin market, has rendered invaluable assistance in securing for you the right class of goods, and unquestionably the host value in this market. ..... . i n i. “As a result of our joint efforts, you will, during the winter at least, be ab'e to simply your constituents at old prices. . . . The bulk Stock held over from last season will give you an immense advantage over those requiring to buy now, as the advance on heavy woollen go-ds, such as Blankets, Mannels, &c., is enormous. * * % * * “ Your increased orders have caused all difficulties in the way of going to the fountamhead entirely to vanish, and now I venture to say that no firm can get readier aoce s to all desirable people. . . . I believe everything going out this season will bear favorable comparison with anything reaching your market. . . There is no earthly reason why you should not compete successfully with any wholesale home m New Zealand m the matter of vame. “JACKETS AND SHAWLS.—By this mail yon will receive six eases, one of which contains the very latest styles. The mantles are very richly trimmed this season.” “ MILLINERY, as you will see, is from the leading French establishments, and ought to be all that can be desired.” “ STRAW GOODS, tho’ vastly in excess of orders, must be right. ... I never saw cheaper goods. ... By Charlotte Gladstone you should soon have one portion of tDe 20,000 Hats before mentioned. They are a desperate bargain, and ought to do you So<K *“ RIBBONS —The new colors, so recently considered ugly by many, are now all the rage. A full variety has been sent. Watered ribbons will he much worn. ” “ FURS, having been bought in summer, are fully a fourth under present prices.” “SILKS.—More than usual attention has this season been given to this line. The Blacks, in particular, you will find are exceptionally good value. You may safely warrant every GOODS. - Bradford, London, Glasgow, &c., have been carefully gone through, where the host value and most suitable goods were secured wherever met with. You will find some very choice things amongst it.” “WINCEYS and SKIRTINGS.—Of these, Mr Ewing seems to have made some rery large and satisfactory purchases in Aberdeen, Perth, &e. ; hut upon these and other Joods purchased in his tour, he will no doubt make his own report.” “PAPER MODELS.—These life-size Models represent the very newest designs in Presses,* Mantles, Jackets, Tunics, &c., Sic., made specially for you.” “FANCY GOODS.—Everything new, pretty, and seasonable has been sent in Clouds, icarfs, Gloves, Collarettes, Real Crochet, New Laces, Belts, Falls, Fair Nets and Rolls, :Ci t &0.
