MAYOR'S COURT.

Yesterday. (Before His Worship the Mayor.)

Drunkenness. John Brown was fined si, with the option of 24 hours’ imprisonment.

Theft. —James Whelan, for stealing a side of bacon from the shop door of S. Bird, Walker street, atll p.m. on the 17th inst., was sentenced to 14 days’ imprisonment with hard labor. Ohscknk Language.—Ellen Burke, for making use of obscene language within the hearing of perrons passing, in Walker street, was fined 1.5, with the option of one month s imprisonment with hard labor. Trivial Assault.—Starkie r. Whittock, a charge of assault and battery, was dismissed.

Cruelty to Animals —George Harrington, dairyman, charged with ill treating a lame horse, by making it tnyyel from the Peacock hotel stably the Gasworks, when unfit to c(o so, was fined ss, or, in default of payment, 24 hours’ imprisonment with hard labor.

Byk-law Cask.— Henry Hawker, charged with driving a horse and cart over the footway in Hanover street, was dismissed with a caution. 'Jins Day. (Before his Worship the Mayor and |J. Obscene Language. —Mary Ann Sutton was charged with making use of profane language within the hearing of persons passing, in a right-of-way off Walker street, at 1 a.m. on the 17th. Mr Wilson appeared for her. She was fined L 5, with the option of one month’s imprisonment with hard labor. James Connolly, for a similar offence, was fined 40s, in default fourteen days’ imprisonment with hard labor.
