It is supposed that tbo majority of the Depasturing Commission are against selling the Wakatip run. The sheepownera went in strong for the sale ; the farmers for a Government board ; the miners, cattle owners, and many farmers for remodelling the Board,
The road party’s report upon the progress of the track to Martin’s Bay is most favorable The country is of an extended natui’c, admirably suited for settlement. A Mr M‘Dougall fell over the cliffs on Saturday, at noon. Ihe coroner went to hold an inquest yesterday, and to exhume the body, that had been buried because of detention of the Coroner in Queenstown on the Depasturing Commission, Many visitors are looking into the value of the district; many with a view to investment in the Martin’s Bay direction.

Christchurch, April 16,
In the Artillery Armstrong match yesterday, Lyttelton was fir>t; Christchurch and Wellington equal. Wellington won the Umber race. The camp broke up last night. The Christchurch Artillery entertain the Wellington men at dinner to-night. In the Supreme Court, John Hennessy, for forgi-ry, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment; Frederick Berg, for arson, was acquitted.
Arrow, April 17
This morning, between four and five o’clock, it was discovered that three stacks of wheat belonging to William Butler had been fired. Butler Bros.’ threshing mill was placed in position between the stacks last night, preparatory to threshing. This morning the stacks and mill were totally destroyed, 'the former was uninsured, and the mill partially so. Incendiarism is suspected. _______
