Gentleman in blue—preparing to note down the fact by placing thp pmn,t of a pencil in Ilia capaoious month-—" Oi must inform yea that the ragelashnns can’t shtand it at all, at all. How ould is the boy Lady : “He is fourteen years of age, and scarcely requires tuition. Ho is, in fact ” Peeler : "Isit 14 yez said ? Be dad, I must put that down to. The regclashuns siz all childer from 6 to 10 umslit attiml schule,” Lady of the house explains that her sun is engaged in business pursuits, &c. Peeler ( Ah ! he the powers | an 1 it's a schollard he is.” Lady : “ Weil, he is a fair scholar for his age.” Peeler—“O yis! oi see!” Thou suddenly brightening up, he said—- “ I’ll jist ax yez one queshton—is the boy up to the standard of the Act ?” Lady—“ I assure you he is.” Peeler —(hastily picketing his note-bojk)—“ Faix, thin, I’ll not bo afther taking his name down so. Well, a good day, mem, and a fine morning to yoz and the man in bine bowed himself out. I repeat, the returns will be very complete—so very valuable too, as well as reliable !
