Peter Fotheringham, charged at the Gaol before his Worship the Mayor this morning, with breaking into the Hatbor Company’s Chambers last week, was committed for trial.
The Government steamer Luna left Wellington on Saturday for Dunedin, with the Minister of Railways, and Messrs Froudfoot and Oliver. She calls cn route at Lyttelton, and is expected to reach Port Chalmers at 8 a.m. to-morrow. A special train will convey the gentlemen to town.
The latest contribution to Tichbornia is made by the Dunstan Times , which has been given to understand that the long lost Arthur Orton, whose name has figured so conspicuously in the celebrated Tichbournc ease, passed through Clyde within the past fortnight en route for England. This worthy, who had assumed the name of 'lhomas Nippen, has for the past few years been living on Mr Henry Campbell’s station, Lake Wanaka, as butcher, Nippen or Orton is accompanied lay two well-known residents of the Upper Clutha. Nippen has been in communication with some people in England, relative to moneys left by Mis Orton at her death, and it is to claim this money he is making the journey.
