The amount of revenue received at the Cus-tom-house on goods cleared for consumption this day, was 1.520 2s 7d,
Messrs Duivek, Stewakt, and Co. report for the week ending 2nd April:—
Stock.— Fat Cattle: Only thirty-three head were yarded and sold to-day ; as a lot the quality was very middling. Bullocks brought from LstoL 77s Gd; cows. L 4 2a fid to Lfi 2s fid. Wc quote prime quality, for immediate delivery, at 20s to 21s per 100 lbs. We have placed 100 head at market rates. Fat Sheep : 040 sheep were penned. Half-brcds brought 12h 9d ; merino wethers, 7s to 8s 3d ; do ewes, fis fid to fis 9(1. We quote present value—prime mutton at 2jd, and have sold 3,500 for forward delivery at advanced rates. Store Cattle: We have numerous buyers for well-bred quiet cattle. Several large lots have changed hands during the week, at L2 10a for mixed herds and L 3 10s to B4 for bullocks. \Vo have placed several lots at these prices. Store Sheep : There is still a good demand for all descriptions of sheep. Wo quote :—Crossbred wethers at 10s to 11s ; do ewes, 12s to 15s, according to quality; do lambs, at Ss to 9s ; merino wethers, at fis fid to 7s ; do ewoa, 2 to fi-tooth, fis to 7s fid ; do full-mouthed, 4s fid to ss. At above rates we have sold 3,000 wethers, 1,000 ewes, and 1,000 cross-breds. Wool. —No public sales have been held this week, and little, if any wool haa changed hands privately. We shall offer about 300 bales, together with sheepskins, hides, tallow, Ac., by auction on Friday, 4th mat., at 3 p.in. Since the publication of telegrams per Tararua, dating from London, loth inst., there has been no further intelligence of importance as regards Colonial wools ; hut, under date 22nd inst., it is announced that prices at the Liverpool wool sales had suffered to the extent of 2d per lb. Sheepskins, hides, and tallow ; No business to report. New Zealand Hemp.—There is still an active demand for medium qualities, but comparatively little coming forward. Quotations unaltered. Gka in. —Wheat is in moderate request at 4s fid per bushel for g< >od samples. Oats have experienced a marked improvement during the past fortnight, the demand being brisk, while the market is entirely bare of supplies, as the new crop is coming in slowly, (food feeding qualities are saleable at 2s 3d to 2a 4d, and prime milling at 2s 5d to 2s fid, Barley continues exceedingly scarce ; quotations nominal; fis fid to 7s for good to prime malting samples.
