CITY ELECTION.

MR PRpSSER’S MEETINGS

Mr Prosser addressed a crowded mpeting of the electors at the Mission House, Russell street, last evening, Mr William (Gilchrist in the chair. On the motion of Mr Little, a vote of confidence in the candidate was unanimously accorded. Mr Prosser afterwards met the electors at Watson’s Royal Hotel, Walker street, Mr Bolt in the chair j and received a similar vote. MR~FISH’cS MEETINGS. Mr Fish addressed a crowded meeting of the electors last evening at the Mission House, Russell Street, Mr R. Pearson in the chair. At the conclusion of the candidate’s address, which was attentively listened to and frequently applauded, Mr Barron’proposed, and Mr Mill seconded, “ That Mr Fish is the most fit and proper candidate to represent Dunedin in the Provincial Council,” which was unanimously carried. Mr Fish afterwards addressed a numerous meeting at the Oddfellows’ Hall, George street, Mr John Haraann in the chair. After the candidate’s address, and his having answered several questions, it was unanimously carried, on the motion of Mr Raker, seconded by Mr, Butterfield, “That Mr Fish is a fit and proper person to represent the City in the Provincial Council.” MR REEVES’S MEETINGS. About 40 electors assembled at the Caledonia Hotel, Great King street, last evening, to hear the views of Mr Reeves. Mr R. H. Leary was voted to the chair. After the candidate bad spoken at length, find explained his policy, which met with the approval of those present, a vote, moved by Mr Ball, seconded by Mr Waugh, “That Mr Reeves is a fit and proper person to represent the City in the Provincial Council” was carried unanimously. The usual vote of thanks to the chairman closed the meeting. Mr Reeves afterwards addressed a numerous meeting at White’s Hotel, Albany street. Mr Harrop was voted to the chair. A vote of confidence in the candidate was proposed by Mr Williams seconded by Mr M'Laren, and carried.
