With regard to the request that a bell may be placed at the main station of the Fire Brigade in Rattray street, the Committee recommends that the Brigade be informed that in all likelihood the Fire Brigade Station will before long be removed from its present site, ami that, therefore, it would be premature to c une to a conclusion to erect a Dell there. Accounts have been passed as per Warrants for sums amounting to L 425 4s sd. Cr. Barnes thought that the request of the Fire Brigade was reasonable, and that the boots should either be provided, or a lump sum should be voted, to be distributed by the Captain of the Brigade as it seemed best to him. The Mayor said the question was one which should Dc supported by the insurance companies as well as by the (.'orporation, and therefore he would suggest that the report be sent back to the ('ommittco for further consideration Meanwhile he would see some of the insurance agents, and ascertain what their ideas were on the matter.
Cr, Mercer agreed with the remarks made, ami said that the Committee were of opinion that the item of boots would cost about LSO, and it was thought advisable to obtain the opinion of the Council before deciding what was best to be done.
